About Saxon Math • An incremental development • Students learn by doing • No separate course for geometry • Algebra, geometry & trigonometry are integrated • Homework is essential • Word problems everyday • Analytic & critical thinking emphasized • Extra help available daily in a SSC, after school, by appointment with a teacher, or a tutor

  4. Two Levels 1. College Prep - Concepts of Algebra 1/ Plane Geometry covered in 2 years Grade 9 – Fundamentals of Algebra Grade 10 –Algebra 1A 2. College Prep - Concepts of Algebra 1/ Plane Geometry covered in 1 year Algebra 1/Plane Geometry

  5. Three Levels 1. College Prep - Concepts of Algebra 2/Plane Geometry/Trigonometry covered in 2 years. 2. College Prep - Concepts of Algebra 2/ Plane Geometry/Trigonometry covered in 1 year 3. Honors - Concepts of Algebra 2/ Plane Geometry/Trigonometry covered in 1/2 - 3/4 year Algebra 2/Plane Geometry/Trigonometry

  6. Algebra 3 • College Prep level class • An extension of Algebra 2 for those who need it • Reviews the concepts of Algebra 2 • Emphasis on Trigonometry • Available to Juniors & Seniors • Departmental approval needed

  7. Two levels 1. College Prep - covers 1/2 the book in 1 year 2. Honors - covers most of the book in 1 year Emphasis on Analytic Geometry and Trigonometry Multi-step word problems Emphasis on critical thinking Advanced Mathematics

  8. Pre-calculus College Prep Level • Covers the second ½ of the green book in 1 year • Extends & expands all concepts of Advanced Math Honors Level • Reviews the concepts of Advanced Math Honors • Introduces the concepts of Calculus

  9. Finite Mathematics • Senior course • College Prep Level • Emphasis on mathematics necessary for business and life • Departmental approval needed

  10. Honors – covers topics normally studied at the college level during semester 1 AP/AB -Prepares students for the AB Calculus exam – more intense & in depth coverage of topics – Prerequisite Precalculus Honors AP/BC – Extends the concepts of AB Calculus Calculus

  14. E-mail From a Member of the Class of 2010 – Received on Sept 15 Hi Mrs. Fitz!!How is everything going?! I miss Fontbonne but love it here at Sacred Heart! I just wanted to let you know that I practically fall asleep every math class because I was beyond prepared by the math classes at Fontbonne.
