  1. STOP DISCRIMINATION AGAINST GIRL CHILD The girl child is still subjected to various forms of gender discrimination in modern day Indian society. Discrimination against girl child takes various forms such as: female foeticide, female infanticide, child marriage etc. In a patriarchal society like India, women are considered to be ‘financial burdens’ on families due to social evils such as the dowry system. In 2019, India has 930 females per thousand males. Such a skewed sex ratio shows the prevalence of discrimination against girl child in India. Save the Children believes that it is very important to change this discriminatory mindset and empower young females.
