Investigating States of Matter. . We used water to investigate the different states of matter. Our experiment was set up like this. It was a bowl of hot water with a piece of cling film over it. On top of the film there was an ice cube. We looked to see what would happen.

  1. Investigating States of Matter. We used water to investigate the different states of matter.

  2. Our experiment was set up like this.

  3. It was a bowl of hot water with a piece of cling film over it. On top of the film there was an ice cube.

  4. We looked to see what would happen.

  5. There were drops of water forming on the cling film. The is called condensation. The gas becomes a liquid.

  6. The ice cube started to melt. Solid ice became liquid.

  7. We talked about the different forms of water. Solid ice

  8. Another form is water vapour which is a gas The liquid evaporated and turned into a gas.

  9. At room temperature water is a liquid. Liquid water

  10. We drew our observations in our books.

  11. We even spotted some condensation on the window.

  12. Try it yourself and watch water in all it different forms.
