Review of 2008-2009 Goals • Embed New Process and Organization • Three technical subcommittees working efficiently • Watch List, Parking Lot and Launching Pad understood and used • Strong leadership team coordinating regularly • Succession planning and gap analyses standard operating procedure • RTI Proposal Accepted and Work Completed • Output delivered to both ETC and IAC • Joint review to be beginning of increased communication and coordination • Annual Support to Air Force Scientific Advisory Board Begun • Annual solicitation by the Secretary of the Air Force for input • SAB considered very influential in determining areas for future investment of R&D funding • Mechanism in place to submit a recommendation for a future study topic • Submissions due 3/31 annually • ETC to submit a recommendation annually based upon the Watch List beginning 3/09

Review of 2009-2010 Goals • Strengthen the Organization • Leadership team fully engaged • Membership roster scrubbed and updated • Membership gap analysis completed and targeted recruiting begun • Continuous communication occurring between meetings • 2010 “Top 10” List Completed • Criteria agreed and understood • Two-way communication established with TAC TCs and PCs • International implications shared with IAC • Public Policy implication shared with PPC • Support to Air Force Scientific Advisory Board Continued • Lessons learned from 2009 submittal incorporated • Format and submittal date standardized • Other branches of service advisory boards identified for future support

Operations Updates • Membership (Sam Bruner) • Communications (Dan Jensen) • The Emerging Technologies Committee worked with the Communications staff to issue an AIAA press release on June 1st, featuring the "Top Ten Emerging Aerospace Technologies of 2009".  The press release generated more than 75 write-ups and was covered in more than ten countries.  • ETC Chair Dan Jensen was subsequently interviewed by Columbia State Radio in Bogata, Columbia about the list.

ETC Overview and Update • The Scope of the ETC is to identify both new and expanding technologies and programs that have the potential for significant AIAA involvement, to identify champions for new AIAA activities, and to identify products and services that AIAA could provide to support new emerging initiatives. • The business of the ETC is conducted in large part within three technical subcommittees: • Aviation (Chair: Bob Wynn) • Space (Chair: Tony Gross) • Multidisciplinary and Systems (Chair: Jack Agee) Each subcommittee has the ability to select its preferred ways of working between the face-to-face ETC meetings. • The whole ETC meets face-to-face three times per year. Each subcommittee will submit its current Watch List and recommendations for the Parking Lot and Launch Pad prior to each face-to-face ETC meeting. The ETC as a whole will review these at the meeting. • The ETC Leadership Team will have additional teleconferences as required.

FAA's Continuous Low Emissions, Energy and Noise (CLEEN) program and European Environmentally Friendly Engine (EFE) program and "Clean Sky" Joint Technology Initiative.) 2.  Alternative Fuels - including biofuels (ref. Commercial Aviation Alternative Fuels Initiative (CAAFI) and FAA Grant to the X PRIZE Foundation to Spur Renewable Aviation Fuels and Technologies) 3.  High-Speed Flight Technologies - including supersonic and hypersonic aerodynamics, sonic boom reduction, thermal management etc.) 4.  Efficient Propulsion Technologies - including Open Rotors and Geared Turbofans (ref.
