Some of the regulatory agencies who have jurisdiction over medical waste at Federal and local levels include: • Department of Transportation • Occupational Safety and Health Administration • Environmental Protection Agency • Joint Commission • Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Violations of applicable regulations can range from a few hundred dollars to several hundred thousand dollars.
