  1. Progressive Era Amendments 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th

  2. 16th Amendment-The Income Tax Amendment Congress shall have the power to lay and collect taxes on incomes. Higher incomes get a higher tax lower incomes get a lower tax.

  3. 17th Amendment-Direct Election of Senators Progressives wanted to give the people an opportunity to vote for their senators directly. In 1912, Congress passed the amendment, providing direct elections of senators.

  4. 18th Amendment-Prohibition Amendment 1919 Prohibition-the passing of laws to prohibit the making or selling of alcohol. Pushed by the progressives.

  5. 19th Amendment-Woman’s Suffrage 1920 Guaranteed women the right to vote in all state and national elections.
