Planning Phase

Planning Phase Process

  • Received an appropriation during the 2003 Legislative Session to plan for the replacement of the MMIS.

  • Released a Request for Proposal in early 2004 for a contractor to assist with the planning activities (requirements definition, cost-benefit analysis preparation, and preparation of the Request for Proposal for the actual MMIS replacement).

  • Hired Fox Systems, Inc. as the Planning Phase Contractor.

Preliminary and Final Cost Benefit Analysis

  • Demonstrations from the 4 industry vendors with operational systems

  • Initial and Ongoing Discussions with Work Force Safety to explore partnering opportunities

  • Presentation from Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services on Medicaid Information Technology Architecture (MITA).

  • Preparation and Submission of Advanced Planning Document to the CMS Regional Office in Denver

    • Secure approval for procurement

    • Secure 90% Federal Match for Replacement project

End of Planning Phase

  • Release of RFP for Design, Development and Implementation in January 2005

  • Will seek an appropriation during the 2005 Legislative Session

  • Proposals will be due in late Spring, with contract work to begin in July 2005.
