Creativity • Carl Rodgers (psychologist and writer) -- The emergence of a novel, relational product, growing out of the uniqueness of the individual. • Henry Miller (writer) -- The occurrence of a composition which is both new and valuable. • John Haefele (Entrepreneur) -- The ability to make new combinations of social worth. • Newell, Simon, & Shaw (Logic theorists) -- A special class of problem solving characterised by novelty. 10. Creativity & Managing Organisations • Is creativity something that naturally occurs within organisations? • Is creativity something that can be organised? • Or is creativity an individual experience? Ralph Rollins Sept 05

  11. Creativity & Managing Organisations Now we have an understanding of what creativity is, why it is important and maybe why creativity has not always been the main focus within organisations. How might a manager successfully promote creativity? How would you do it if you were a manager? Ralph Rollins Sept 05
