The European Parliament (1) • The European Parliament: • only directly-elected EU body • 766 Members • to represent the EU's 500 million citizens • elected once every five years • by voters from across the 28 Member States • 7 political groups • 24 official languages • all parliamentary documents are published in all the official languages of the European Union (EU) and every MEP has the right to speak in the official language of his/her choice
The European Parliament (2) • Committees: • 20 parliamentary committees • A committee consists of between 24 and 76 MEPs, • has a chair, a bureau and a secretariat • the political make-up of the committees reflects that of the plenary assembly • draw up, amend and adopt legislative proposals and own-initiative reports • consider Commission and Council proposals • where necessary, draw up reports to be presented to the plenary assembly • Parliament can also set up sub-committees and special temporary • committees to deal with specific issues

Amendments AT4AM and DST are web based applications. They are the entry points from where the user interacts with the systems being developed as a consumer of services provided by ESB.
