  1. Well it is February 2014 and the holiday period is over .. time to welcome you to 2014 and our third newsletter, update you on the year gone by and what lies ahead....... Relay For Life 2013 ‘Team Katrina’ raised an amazing $11,000 to the help bring the superb total to over $500,000 raised at this event. Clover Cottage 2013 Thanks to your great support we were thrilled to be able to provide funds directly to St Francis Xavier College in Beaconsfield as a result of a very successful fundraiser held at Clover Cottage in June . The night raise in excess of $2,500 and the college were very grateful to be able to put the funds to good use in dealing with a particularly challenging situation they were faced with. Having the funds available and earmarked for this cause enabled us to respond immediately to help us to have a positive impact in addressing the serious issues of teenage mental health issues at a local level. We have also funded 3 places for teachers undertaking the Windermere assist program With over 100 walkers and additional supporters and including the amount of $2,300 resulting from our fabulous “Bollywood comes to Beaconsfield” night– (sincere thanks to all) – these funds ensure that the research grant into Ovarian cancer continues in Katrina’s name – since the start we have raise in excess of $30,000 for this cause ! Hope you can joins us this year 14/15th March for the walk-Simply call Rob on 0400 044 257 or email r.hastings@ymail.com if you wish to register. Room to Read Our sincere thanks to the 100 plus people who braved a wet and windy cold August night to support the Melbourne premiere of ‘Girl Rising’ at Genazzano College in Kew. This inspiring documentary about the lives of nine girls who escaped a life of poverty and illiteracy by learning to read and gain an education. The night was a great success and raised $2750 which is a great start for our Tanzanian effort this year. Visy Health and Safety Awards As an integral part of the company’s national safety week in early October, the General Manager of Visy, Ian Harmer , announced the names of three winners of the “Katrina Wakeling Health and Safety Awards” created in honour of Katrina’s contribution to workplace Health and Safety practices and policies when she was an employee of the company. In presenting the awards Harmer said “..she was a leader within the HSE space and driven to making a difference at Visy. Her beliefs and strategies around HSE culture, teams, leadership and the importance of people set her apart and were the foundations of her success as a HSE professional..” It is another tremendous honour to Katrina’s ongoing legacy and one which makes us all very proud.
