  6. THE WAR OF THE WORLDS • Dr. Clayton Forrester sees a meteor and along with Sylvia Van Buren, and Dr. Matthew Collins go to the crash site and it turns out to be a Martian war machine. The machine attacks and the military and Dr. Collins are killed. Forrester and Van Buren hide in a farm house which the Martians look through with and “electronic eye”. The air force then drops an atomic bomb on the machines and it does nothing. Forrester and Van Buren then find a church in which there are other survivors and find out the Martians cannot handle the bacteria and viruses on Earth. • Directed by: Byron Haskin

  8. THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL • The military finds a flying saucer in the park and its inhabitant, the alien Klaatu exits from it. After he is shot and wounded by a soldier his robot Gort disintegrates all of the weapons. As it turns out Klaatu came to Earth on a goodwill mission. Klaatu escapes to a boardinghouse and seeks refuge with the family. The son Bobby then takes Klaatu on a tour of Washington DC. Klaatu then meets with a scientist and tells him that he came here because mankind has discovered atomic power. In the end Klaatu leaves the planet with Gort and warns the humans that if the humans take their violence to space robots will destroy the Earth. • Directed by: Robert Wise • Music By: Bernard Herrmann

  10. AVATAR • In the future on a Planet called Pandora a company called RDA mines a valuable mineral. A security force called Spec-Ops need oxygen masks because the atmosphere of Pandora is toxic to humans. On Pandora lives the native creatures called Na’vi. They live in nature and worship their god Eywa. The humans have grown Na’vi bodies they call avatars which can survive in the atmosphere and be controlled by a soldier. Jake Sully is a paraplegic marine that takes control of an avatar. The native species attack his avatar and he is taken to the Na’vi village. Soon the military attacks to take more of the mineral and Jake uses his avatar to fight the military. The personnel are expelled from Pandora and Jake and some others live with Na’vi. • Directed by: James Cameron
