  1. ILC 08 CONVENTIONAL FACILITIES AND SITING GROUP Introduction to Process Cooling Water and HVAC Review Parallel Session V. Kuchler

  2. Process Cooling Value Engineering • VE Workshop Conducted at FNAL in Nov 2007 • Several Ideas were Discussed for Alternatives to RDR Process Cooling Water Design • Adjustments to Process Cooling Design has an Effect on HVAC Design as well • Alternatives were Prioritized and Work Began • Then December Budget Difficulties Greatly Reduced the Resources Needed to Continue • Work Did Continue (at a Slower Pace) • Eventually all Identified Alternatives were Investigated and Evaluated

  3. Process Cooling Value Engineering cont. • Klystron Cluster Alternative was Investigated after the Dubna ILC Meeting • The CFS Group did Evaluate this Alternative and Provided Resulting Cost Analysis • Klystron Cluster Alternative Requires R&D and Demonstration • A Back-up Design Solution Needs to be Selected in the Unlikely Event that the Klystron Cluster Alternative does not Prove Viable • That is the Object of this Parallel Session
