  2. Huntington's Disease Huntington's Disease is a disease that is inherited and slowly breaks down the central nervous system. This disease usually impacts the persons functional abilities. Most people don't develop symptoms until they are between 40 and 50 years old. If someone has symptoms of this disease before the age of 20 it is considered Juvenile Huntington's Disease.

  3. Symptoms • Movement disorders • Muscle spasms • Difficulty speaking • Cognitive disorders • Lack of social skills • Lack of awareness

  4. Psychiatric disorders • Depression • Social withdrawal • Obsessive-compulsive disorder • Bipolar disorder

  5. Treatments • There are no treatments for Huntington's Disease but there are some drugs to slow down the effects of the disease • Antidepressants • Antipsychotics • Mood-stabilizing drugs

  6. Prognosis • Life expectancy of about 20 years after onset of symptoms
