Dynamic range

  • 4GHz BW cut into small 250MHz Bw independently adjusted in output power (0.5dB step).

  • IF intrinsic smooth ripple over 4GHz is translated into attenuator settings variations for each sub-band.

  • That reduces the window of ‘fine tuning’ for efficiency optimisation and I call that ‘IF internal dynamic range’.

  • Budget seems to fit (see slide)

  • QM ripple over 250MHz is about 3dB.

    • New VCO spec for FM and new hybrid design (coupling decreased, power supply filtering resistor)

  • Correlator speed: new filter design (see slide)

  • CPPA procurement: RLC footprint changed  new layout for IRM

  • LO pcb : slight changes for DRC compliance (precap)

  • Mechanical weight reduction  work in progress

The right angles have been replaced by rounded angles to decrease risk of failure of 10mils alumina substrate..

  • New LC values to be sorted for new filter shape/same constr.

    • Power consumption  no change expected

    • Mass  a few % lower expected

    • Rejection ? Worries about new CPPA parts (footprint increase, resonnant freq. decrease)

    • Output spurious  Major change

      • need to add filter in both LOs but changes to mech. design.

      • new substrates to be realised (pb of schedule)

    • Linearity  15dB margin for noise is sufficient/power consump.
