Speed of Motion • Control of speed of movement seen on screen • Rates calculated in fps • FAST MOTION:comedy, grab attention or accelerate pace • SLOW MOTION: more fps--- slower the action appears - suggest that the action takes place in a dream or fantasy to convey enormous power, high drama, moment of spectacle

  2. Perspective • LENS: gathers light form the scene and transmits that light onto the flat surface odf the film to form an image that represents size, depth, and other dimensions • FOCAL LENGTH: Distance from center of the lens to the point where light rays converge to a point of focus on the film

  3. Perspective: Wide Angle Lens • Short Focal length • Exaggerates depth • Makes distances between foreground and background greater • Figures cover ground more rapidly

  4. Perspective: Medium Lens • Medium lens= 50 mm • Foreground and background neither stretched apart nor squashed togehter

  5. Perspective: Telephoto Lens • Long Focal length • Flatten Space along the Cameras axis • 100 mm or > • Used for sporting events—magnify at a distance
