  1. Kinetic Analysis of the Multi-Step Process in the Formation of LSMEdwin H. Walker, Jr., Southern University, DMR 0449886 We report the new and very important insights to the reaction mechanism for the formation of phase pure electrochemically active La0.8Sr0.2MnO3 (LSM)are determined via the non-isothermal investigation of the dependence of the activation energy (E) on the extent of conversion () of LSM using the iso-conversional method of Friedman. This investigation largely provides for the first time concrete experimental data that supports a multi-step mechanism in the formation of LSM.

  2. Kinetic Analysis of the Multi-Step Process in the Formation of LSMEdwin H. Walker, Jr., Southern University, DMR 0449886 This summer several inter city Teachers participated in the PI’s Summer Science Institute. After the five week workshop, the teachers were encouraged to invite their students to Southern University for a day of science. The PI gave the students a tour of the Chemistry department as well as he performed fun science demonstrations. The students enjoyed their visit, and the teachers requested that the PI host a science fair in the fall for inter city minority students as a vehicle to encourage their interest in science.
