Behavior Change

Implications

  • 3rd graders can learn to speak up for themselves in a non-violent, productive way.

  • Students are solving some problems for themselves. Therefore, teacher have more time to teach.

What we learned

  • Students will attempt use of the “I” message once taught

  • Students need to understand that this is not the only method of conflict management

  • Small groups for extended practice using “I” Statements may be helpful for students still receiving DRs (Discipline Referrals)

School Counselors contribute in a meaningful way to academic achievement of all students.
