  1. Global Compensation Planning Tool September 24, 2009 Donna Dobbs, GM IS&S Project Manager Sutam Biswas, WIPRO Program Manager

  2. Business Value Single application and process for executive and classified compensation planning Compensation plan specific configurability Automation of eligibility queries Hierarchies builds on the fly Fund transfers and balances Create proxy Automation of fund allocation Speed, flexibility, usability Separate global systems and processes System hardcoded business rules Manual running of multiple eligibility queries Separate systems and processes for hierarchy build Separate processes for fund allocation Redundancy of work effort • Fulfill a need for a global compensation planning tool to be available online, • real-time along with year-round. • This tool needed to have the capability to configure compensation plans, load/update • data, apply various eligibility rules, apply fund allocations, manage budget controls, • facilitate currency conversions, and manage planning hierarchies. It also needed to • provide alerts and warnings for plans not conforming to the program guidelines, and • provide employee documentation of compensation. • Other benefits include: Gain Eliminate

  3. Global Compensation Module Overview • Elected to leverage Peoplesoft infrastructure and demographic data using • PeopleTools 8.48 to deliver a customized compensation planning tool. • The customized approach was taken to support the complex global business • requirements, which varied by country based on legal and regulatory laws. • The project was completed in two (2) years, and deployed in multiple phases.

  4. System Configuration • 26 PeopleSoft components establish the foundation of the Global Compensation Planning application • Set up various incentive and merit components that are core to compensation planning • Capability to configure a dashboard by user role type • Establish by region/country • Configurable eligibility criteria, business rules, alerts and messages • Configurable rounding rules and payout formula The setup tables collectively create the compensation plan that will then drive the process of compensation planning. A robust ‘set up’ allows flexibility to adjust to changing business needs.

  5. Manage Hierarchy LDAP Staging Table • Application engine program integrated with an active directory (LDAP) to build compensation hierarchy • Needed functionality to support complex direct and indirect structures • Create alternate groups from a manager’s planning population • Audit reports to identity loops and unassigned employees/Compensation planners in the planning hierarchy • Transfer employees between planning group or between compensation planners On Demand Process to build Comp Hierarchy tables GCOMP Org Hierarchy Staging Tables Comp Hierarchy Populated Hierarchy available for manipulation Hierarchy still available for manipulationby comp Planner Hierarchy Frozen? N Y Hierarchy not availableto comp planner for manipulation The integration with LDAP creates a solid foundation for the hierarchy build, along with being fast and easy.

  6. Allocate Funds • Application engine driven • Business rules and calculations inherited from business-defined PeopleSoft queries • Configurable eligibility criteria and formula set-up makes this process re-usable for any plan and currency • Uses administrator configured salary range audits • Completes calculations for a plan for several thousand employees in just minutes. Fund allocation process populates the funded & recommended values for eligible employees in their local currency, and the budget is summarized by component and planning group. Automation of the funding process could not get easier.

  7. Administer Comp Planning • Budget holdback and transfer funds • Group planning • Budget summary currency change • Fund transfer • Salary range audit • Promotion planning • Merit planning • Visual cues • Rollup up to planning group approver The planning worksheet provides the compensation planner with all relevant compensation data, including the ability to see the impact of the recommendation on their budget. The worksheet provides an intuitive user view, including visual cues.

  8. Pay planning • Application engine driven • Write merit, promotion, incentive or variable pay, and lump sum amount to employees job record • Ability to cancel the inserted job record • Ability to run for a particular country • Effective dated transaction Once the compensation planning cycle has completed, employee job records are easily updated with the new information. This includes ability to load pay data for individual or multiple components, covering multiple countries with different effective dates.

  9. Communication • Schedule on demand, plan defined, and event based communications • Manage communications and the associated workflow • Compensation documents to be created, viewed, action required, and available for transfer • Compensation statements generation and distribution, either to leadership or directly to employee Generates notifications at various pre-determined points in the planning cycle. Communications when and where you need or want them.

  10. Security • Integrated with an active directory (LDAP) for initial security setup • Compensation administrators have access to change roles on the fly • Integrated with the production process and SOX compliant • Administrators able to view the compensation role of a user • Data level security based on compensation hierarchy • By-pass PeopleSoft delivered row level security for compensation planning Application level security determines the page/component level access permitted. The user role will specify the type of transactions permitted, while the application manages and control the data the user will access. Ability to restrict data at the plan, component, country or region level has created a highly secured application.

  11. Reporting • Efficient SQR for standard reports • Process monitor view through user friendly dashboard • Dashboard provides language translation and security for links. • PS Query and Cognos for adhoc reporting Combination of standard and ad-hoc reporting provides the administrators the ability to extract data from all compensation tables. The experience is enhanced for standard reports through a WIPRO CoE brainchild - “Reporting Dashboard”, providing a simplified reporting user experience.
