  3. PAYASOS • PERO HAY MUCHOS TIPOS DE PAYASOS: • Clown: También llamado Blanco, Carablanca, Pierrot, Enharinado y Listo. Nacido a Inglaterra a medianos del siglo XVIII, suele ir maquillado de blanco y enfundado en un elegante vestido brillante. De apariencia fria y lunar, representa la ley, el orden, el mundo adulto, la repressión -características que no hacen sinó realzar el protagonismo del august. Grandes clowns: Footit, Antonet, François Fartellini, Pipo, René Revel, Alberto Vitali.

  4. PAYASOS • Augusto: También llamado Tonto. Es extravagante, absurdo, pícaro, liante, sorprendente, provocador. Representa la libertad y la anarquía, el mundo infantil. Vestido de cualquier manera, lleva una característica nariz roja postiza y grandes zapatos. Diversas leyendas coinciden a hacer nacer el personaje al circo Renz de Berlín (1865), encarnado por un tal August, un mozo de pista patoso y borracho -de aquí viene la nariz roja. Grandes augustos: Chocolat, Beby, Albert Fartellini, Porto, Rhum, Bario, Achille Zavatta, Charlie Rivel, Pio Nock, Carlo Colombaioni.

  5. PAYASOS • Vagabundo (o tramp): Tipo de august solitario, habitualmente silencioso y con pinzeladas de marginado social. Los exponentes más grandes de esta especialidad son Charlot al cine y , a la pista de circo, Joe Jackson, Otto Griebling y Emmet Kelly.

  6. PAYASOS • MesiéLoyal: Director y presentador de pista, de la que es la autoridad inapelable, es el compañero más lujoso que puede tener una tropa de payasos. Los más destacado a través de los tiempos: los franceses Sacha Houcke, Drena y Sergio. Actualmente, a España, hay que destacar Popey (hijo de José Carrasco Popey) y, a Cataluña, el Dr. Soler.

  7. PAYASOS • Cascador: Cómico especialista en cascadas.
