  2. Spiritual Heritage is HUGE • People become defensive when they feel insulted • People naturally do not like to be wrong • People naturally do not like being told they are wrong • It is hard to conceive that their “pastor” has been and continues to teach error. “My family has known him for years and we trust him with our souls and lives” • He performed my grandfather’s funeral and eulogy. • Has my family been taught wrong all these years? • The pastor could be their father and not only did he teach them but also baptized them. • The person who baptized them is extremely important to them. • What about my grandparents? • Are you saying that everyone else is wrong? • Wait, how come you are right and I am wrong? • I don’t know about this, it sounds right but feels wrong. • Pastor Young never said anything like this. • This is too much, I was fine and feeling good about my relationship with God before this person came along.

  3. Remember the four types of soil . . . • Sown along the path – Evil one snatches away what was sow in his heart. • Rocky ground – Recieves immediately with joy but it is not rooted. Persecution comes and they stumble • Thorns – Hears the word but the cares of this world chokes the word, becomes unfruitful. • Good – Hears, understands, bears fruit.

  4. What we want to happen is . . . • Plant the seed • Water the seed • Cultivate the plant • Support the plant • Fertilize the plant • Have a full grown tree • See the fruit grow on the plant • All in one Bible Study. • I Corinthians 3:6-7
