Common Pedigree • Common Pedigree is the term used to refer to the database or the information contained in the New FamilySearch or FamilyTree • It Can be accessed two ways: • Go to new.familysearch.org • Go to labs.familyserach.org and then scroll down and select the link that says Family Tree

  3. New FamilySearch • The New Family Search was created: • Reduce duplication of temple ordinance work. • Simplify the process to submit names to the temple. • Help families work together to identify their ancestors and to make sure their family history is as accurate and complete as possible.

  4. New FamilySearch • The new FamilySearch will make it easier for you to: • See what information the Church already has about you and your ancestors. • Work with others on shared family lines. • Add new information and make corrections. • Prepare the names of your ancestors for temple ordinances.

  5. New FamilySearch Registration • Make sure you have your membership number and confirmation date. Step #1: Go to new.familysearch.org Step #2: Select the link New users register here

  6. New FamilySearch Registration Step #3: Type your membership number Step #4: Type your confirmation date Step #5: Type the text you see in the box Step #6: Click continue

  7. New FamilySearch Registration Step #7: click yes, Continue Step #8: Read the Conditions of Use, click I Agree

  9. New FamilySearch Registration Step #11: create and type in a user name. Step # 12: Click continue Step # 13: create and type in a password Step #14: Select continue

  10. New FamilySearch Registration Step #15: select three questions and type in the answers Step #16: select Continue Step #17: Enter in a contact name Step #18: Click continue

  11. New FamilySearch Registration Step #19: Choose your contact preferences Step #20: Select continue Step #21: Print your registration info Step #22: Click Done

  12. New FamilySearch Registration Step #23: when you in it will ask you if you want to view the Overview you can Skip the Overview

  15. Assignments • Register for the New FamilySearch by going to new.familysearch.org • Do the FamilyTree Navigation tutorial through i-learn • For help go to the FHC on the 2nd floor of the library
