SPRINGFIELD – January 29, 2009. Former Lieutenant Governor Pat Quinn took the Oath of Office at 5:40 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2009. The Oath of Office was administered by Illinois Supreme Court Justice Anne Burke in a brief ceremony in the Chamber of the Illinois House of Representatives.

Starting in 1855, Illinois governors began occupying this red brick mansion in downtown Springfield. Joel A. Matteson and his family were to first to move in, followed by William Bissell.

The mansion originally cost $31,000 to build.
