PLANNING • HOW DO YOU SUPPORT/HOW ARE YOU INVOLVED IN THE PLANNING EFFORTS OF TRIBAL MEMBERS? • Land Use Review Process • Land Use Committee • Flood Plain Management • WHAT SUPPORT CAN FEMA PROVIDE TO THE TRIBE TO SUPPORT RISK REDUCTION PLANNING EFFORTS? • Complete RISK Maps • Risk Zoning Codes/Ordinances

REGULATIONS • HOW DO YOU ENFORCE REGULATIONS MEANT TO REDUCE RISK? • Current regulations do not cover risk reduction but instead focus on historical, cultural, environmental, and infrastructure concerns. • DO YOUR MEMBERS UNDERSTAND THE REGULATIONS? DO THEY CHALLENGE THEM? • Most community members are unaware of local regulations and no effective enforcement of regulations. • WHAT SUPPORT CAN FEMA PROVIDE TO ASSIST YOUR REGULATORY PROCESSES? • Educate local leaders and community members on the importance of risk reduction.
