  10. The number of teachers who have given lectures recently Total number of teachers: approx.300

Characteristic of Gakugei Cafeteria Lecture course  ◆Extracurricular activities (no academic credit) ・Lunch lecture course -30min. at lunchtime    ・Dinnerlecture course – 2 hours from 18:00   ◆Only one session ・Students can sign up the courses whenever they are interested in the lecture topics. ・Students from every grade and major participate in the same lecture course, which they may hardly have a chance to take.

How students learn in Gakugei Cafeteria Lecture Course Not simply passive lecture course Always include “metacognitive activities” ◆Sharing their opinions    ◆Discussion on a certain theme        ↓ ◆Writing an essay on the subject of “What they have learnt” to connect their thought with the day’s topic. ↓ Students can post it on MY PAGE on the website to keep the record of what they have learnt in the field outside their major

Training student-staff “Cafemates” as facilitators in these courses  ◆Cafemates andGakugei Cafeteria staff discuss detail in advance to determine how far to discuss the topics at hand ↓ ★Theme focused discussion ★ Questions and Answers Sometimes, lectures can lead to behavioral changesin students, and other time the knowledge remains for future use.

Survey”What the participants earned from the lectures“ ◆I learned that we could prepare for the future when we work hard ◆Learning from multiple perspectives helps us develop our sense of values and expand our horizons. ◆I was intellectually stimulated and encouraged by the lecturer and participants. ◆We can create a learning environment that connects people on campus and provides easy access to information. ◆I have learned how to put my academic studies into practice.
