  3. 5 Ways To Become More Patient If you are anything like me, you want everything now. It is definitely a personality thing, but also as a young person we are so used to having everything at our finger tips! So when we have to wait, it can be an anxiety inducing craze! 5 Ways to Become More Patient. So how do we curb that need for needing everything now? As the old saying goes- practice makes perfect! Here are my top tips for developing your patience muscle! 1. Meditate Regularly Meditation isn’t something that you can just whip out when you need it most. You have to practice it over and over until your whole nervous system and body adapts to the feeling of calm. If you practice meditating regularly, you develop the ability to switch it on when you do need it most. But it is not a skill we all naturally have. You have to develop it over time. There is so many good apps, videos and tutorials out there to get started with meditation. My faves are Treat App and Simple Habit. WWW.INSIDETHEFUZZYHEAD.COM

E.g You order a pair of shoes online and shipping will take 7 days. But you grow impatient because you want to wear the shoes now, you want the feeling of new shoes and how they make you look and therefore feel. If we can let go of that need to feel that way NOW, the waiting period becomes so much easier. You have survived this long without the pair of shoes so in the grand scheme of things, what is another 7 days? This brings us to my next point…. 3. Self Talk Self talk is the reason we feel and react the way we do to people, situations and events. If you can change your outlook, you change your reality. To grow patient you have to change the way you tell yourself how to feel and react. So with the shoes, if you tell yourself ‘Ican’t wait to have the shoes- I wish they would come now’ then of course your going to be impatient for them to come and you will drive yourself crazy! If you say to yourself ‘I have other shoes until then’ or ‘7 days isn’t too long’ then it won’t feel long! Simple. WWW.INSIDETHEFUZZYHEAD.COM

Consciously breathe all the way into your stomach, instead of up in the chest. This lowers the fight or flight response in your nervous system and therefore calms the whole body. If you extend the length of the breath out, you will become calmer. To do this measure how many seconds you’re breathing in and then out for, so it could be three seconds in and two seconds out. Even that out so it becomes three in, three out. Do a couple of repetitions here, then extend it to four seconds in and out and repeat the process. By calming the body and mind down, you won’t feel impatient because you’ll be totally calm. Also try to breathe in through the nose, out through the nose or mouth. 5. Distract Yourself If all else fails, you can always distract yourself. You can trick your brain into forgetting (even for a short while) about the thing you’re impatient for! Turn your attention to doing something different, even better is doing something fun. If your whole body and mind are preoccupied with something else you will feel so much better. Practice makes perfect! Practice all of the above, and not only will your patience grow, your whole life will change! WWW.INSIDETHEFUZZYHEAD.COM
