Session Objectives • Revisit vision & mission to maximize clarity and ensure alignment of goals • Capture successes and assess strengths against vision & mission • Identify challenges to achieving vision & mission • Identify opportunities to maximize CAAHP’s impact • Develop a consistent message around CAAHP

  4. ‘Wall of Wins’ • CAAHP’s participation in useful research activities (simulation videos, ‘sustaining the allied health professions‘ project) • Impacting educational policy through connections with accreditation bodies, ACCC, professional associations, etc. • Attracting high-quality keynote speakers for annual AGMs • Sustaining annual membership numbers • Promoting greater understanding of inter-professional collaborative education and simulation • Providing an excellent network for info sharing/exchange of ideas • Recognition by Federal Government that CAAHP represents Allied Health Professions: called to represent sector (AHSP)

Vision and Mission Vision: To shape the future of allied health sciences education within the college and institute system Mission: To be the nationalvoice for allied health sciences education • No change to vision or mission?? • Add a new legacy statement?? To create an effective Canadian network of high quality allied health sciences education programs

  6. Value Proposition (Why Join?) Current Proposed We are the national organization of academic leaders representing health sciences in the college and institute system. We act as a portal, connecting an integrated network of practitioners: sharing of expertise, best practices, research findings, etc. We represent health sciences on various national committees and forums addressing such issues as interprofessional Education (IPE), entry-to-practice credentials and clinical education. We host an annual conference to address priorities affecting the delivery of health sciences programs. • We are the national organization of academic leaders representing health sciences in the college and institute system. • We are affinity group of ACCC providing “one door entry” into all college and institute applied health sciences programs, government agencies and other networks. • We represent health sciences on various national committees and forums addressing such issues as interprofessional Education (IPE), entry-to-practice credentials and clinical education. • We host an annual meeting to address priorities affecting the delivery of health sciences programs.

  7. CAAHP’s 2013-2014 Strategic Focus & Next Steps Increase CAAHP's impact & success for members beyond AGMs by focusing on strengthening 'being the national voicefor AHS'. Leverage existing strengths with success at AGM + Focus on Branding & Visibility

Key Strategy: Nurture Relationships • Board Members to focus on advocacy role to create a community of awareness • Build on relationship with CMA / national / regulatory associations • Increase communication to members and potential members • connect to operational leaders (e.g. program heads) • Increase depth and visibility

  9. Immediate Actions • Develop target relationship/advocacy map; establish and share strategy • Leverage recent CMA exposure (AHSP) • Update website and promote usage • Discuss with members concepts such as • eNewsletters • Workshops to share expertise and best practices
