OS LS 6200 Stacking & Management • Mix and match any model up to 8 units high • Supports fault tolerant stack loop • Copper RJ-45 10/100/1000 ports used for stacking • Uses standard Cat 5 Ethernet cabling and RJ-45 connectors for dedicated stacking b/t elements • Supports 1 primary + 1 secondary mgt entity • Stack ID is indicated/changed by pushing stack button and associating with port LED (1-8)- No digital readout like (6600) • Single IP address for stack • HTTPS, SSH, Telnet remote access • TACACS+, Radius Authentication • TFTP download config, SW images • DHCP/BootP to auto retrieve IP address and configuration

  9. PoE Support • OS LS 6200 PoE models support 802.3af standard • Max 15.4 watts per port • OS LS 6224P: 180 watts available for PoE power • 180/24 = max 7.5 watts per port simultaneously • OS6248P: 380 watts available for PoE power • 380/48 = max 7.9 watts per port simultaneously • OS LS 6200 can power non-standard IP phones • Cisco 7940 IP phone • Cisco 7910 IP phone • Cisco 7960 IP phone

  10. Virtual Cable Tester • 6200 supports Phy diagnostics • Capability to perform TDR of copper cabling per port • Measure copper cable length, integrity (opens, shorts) • Stores history of previous measurements • Supports diagnostics of mini-GBIC transceivers

  11. OS LS 6224/6224P Block Diagram • Notes: • 32mb Flash • 128mb SDRAM • Stacking ports are standard GE RJ45 port • Network GE ports support 10/100/1000 RJ45, 100FX and 1000-baseX 24FE+4GE Stack ports DX107 CPU 88E6095 88E6095 88E6095 Network Gig ports Network FE ports

  12. 88E6095 88E6095 88E6095 88E6095 88E6095 88E6095 OS LS 6224/6224P Block Diagram • Notes: • 32mb Flash • 128mb SDRAM • Stacking ports are standard GE RJ45 port • Network GE ports support 10/100/1000 RJ45, 100FX and 1000-baseX 48FE+4GE Stack ports DX107 CPU Network Gig ports

  13. Solution Overview - Concept • DX107 is the advanced multi-layer 10Gbps switch with L2/L3/L4 and TCAM • 8K MAC table, 1K TCAM, 256 VLAN • 88E6095 are Octal 10/100 satellite devices to allow modular design with centralized intelligence • 88E6095 acts as MUX for ingress traffic: all ingress traffic sent unconditionally to DX107 • The 88E6095 acts as a deMUX for egress traffic, and distributes the packets according to the DX107 ASIC decision

  14. Solution Overview - Packet Flow(Please use with animation) DX107 88E6095 88E6095 88E6095 T1 V2 V2 V2 V2 Unknown Unicast

  15. Connectivity – Cascading • Internal links (inside a unit) use non-extended DSA tag • Links used to connect units (stack ports) will use extended DSA tag Extended DSA Stack ports DX107 DSA 88E6095 88E6095 88E6095

  16. Unicast Forwarding Principles • Packet from 88E6095 network ports is sent unconditionally to the “parent” DX107 using “FORWARD” DSA tag. • DX107 maps the DSA Tag <SrcPort, SrcDev > to PCL-id for TCAM-policies • DX107 forwards the packet to one of the DX107 ports according to lookup using “FORWARD” DSA tag for cascade ports • The packet can be switched back to the source 88E6095 device to another network port. • If the packet is sent to an 88E6095, the 88E6095 does the MAC address lookup to determine the egress FE port • The 88E6095 is responsible on filtering a packet from going back to the original network source port • The information on the original source port of the packet is kept in the packet’s DSA tag.

  17. Multicast Forwarding Principles • Packet from 88E6095 network ports is sent unconditionally to the “parent” DX107 • The DX107 sends packets to the stack-links • The DX107 flood the packet to all the 88E6095 that are directly attached, including the source Opal, and if they have 1 or more members in the multicast • The egress device 88E6095 flood the packet to the appropriate network ports (based on MAC address lookup). • The 88E6095 is responsible on filtering a packet from going back to the original network source port • The information on the original source port of the packet is kept in the packet’s DSA tag.

  18. VLANs • Full 4K range is supported • number of active VLANs: 256 • Policy based (TCAM) VLANs • MAC VLAN: 128 rules • IP subnet VLAN: 128 rules • Protocol VLAN: 16 rules • VLAN rule precedence • 1. MAC • 2. IP subnet • 3. Protocol • Can not bind VLAN rules, i.e.; No MAC + IP rule for VLAN classification

  19. Port Mirroring, Link Aggregation • OS LS 6200 supports port-based mirroring • One1 session with up to eight source ports to one destination port • Static & LACP Link aggregation supported • Max # trunks: 8 • Max # members per trunk: 8 • Unicast, multicast and broadcast are load balanced • XOR last 3 bits SMAC/DMAC • The load balancing is not equally balanced in case of odd number of trunk members (3, 5 or 7)

  20. 802.1x • OS LS 6200 supports single supplicant • Open global (after supplicant authorization, port opens for other non-authenticated users) • Single host (no other users allowed) • VLAN rules can be applied to supplicant and others in open global mode • Guest VLAN supported • Enabled per port • Non-supplicant or supplicant with mismatching username/password has access to guest VLAN • Phase 2 will introduce per client 802.1x with Radius VLAN support

  21. QoS - Ingress • No blocking on the 88E6095 uplink (800Mbps to 1Gbps) - QOS on the 88E6095 uplink is not required • The port default 802.1p user priority can be assigned differently to different FE ports • Policy-based (TCAM/ACL) QOS marking and traffic policing are supported per FE port

  22. QoS - Egress • Four output queues, done in 88E6095 output port • 8 queues to CPU • Scheduling is selected globally for all the FE and GE ports • Fixed priority • Or WRR of 8, 4, 2, and 1 • Shaping • Average bandwidth can be configured on both FE and GE ports. • Burst size can be configured on GE ports only.

  23. OS LS 6200 QoS Triple-play application Enforcement of priority bits and rate limiting per port through ACLs Incoming traffic is tranparently switched to the 98DX107 in a non blocking mux fashion wihtout queueing or ratelimiting, etc... 10/100 Forwarding base Look up and aggregate egress queuing to the destination port. P1 P2 GE Queue 1 10/100/1000 Queue 2 Queue 3> Queue 4 P8 88E6095 Uplink P17 Queue 1 Queue 1 Queue 2 Queue 2 P18 GE Queue 3> Queue 3> Queue 4 Queue 4 Priority bits setting and rate limiting available, however this will be done at the 7450. 98DX107 P24 88E6095 6224 Forwarding base Look up and aggregate egress queuing to the destination port. Duplication of multicast traffic with max one copy per internal GE port 4 Aggregate egress queues per 8 x 10/100 ports Duplication of multicast traffic if required
