  2. What Is UXO? UXO stands for unexploded ordnance. Ordnance is what we call ammunition, such as: • Bullets, bombs, duds, grenades, blasting caps, shells and fuses Unexploded ordnance is: • Ammunition that was fired but didn’t explode • Ammunition that could explode • New or old...Shiny or rusty…clean or dirty All of it is dangerous!

  3. Some UXO Is Hard to Identify UXOcan be found inmany shapes, sizes, and types. • Size doesn’t matter. Small items can kill or injure. • Age doesn’t matter. Old rusty items can kill or injure. • Items may not look bad, but they are dangerous!

  10. TRAINING RANGE KEEP OUT UXO Is Dangerous! People have been seriously hurt or killed by UXO: • Do not touch anything that could be UXO. • Do not enter areas with “Danger” signs.

  11. 3 R's Learn What To Do… • Keep Yourself and Your Friends Safe! • Recognize! • Retreat! • Report!

  12. Recognize It. If you find UXO: • It may not look deadly - but it is! • Leave it alone. • Try and remember the area where you found the UXO.

  13. TRAINING RANGE KEEP OUT IMPACT AREA KEEP OUT Retreat! • Don’t touch it. Don’t go near it. • Leave the area.

  14. Report it! Tell an adult if you find something that could be UXO: • a parent • a teacher • a military police officer • a firefighter • Call West Point Military Police at: (845) 938-3333 • If someone is injured by UXO, call 911 immediately!

  16. Be Safe! • UXOcan kill you. • If you find UXO, leave it alone. • Tell an adult if you find UXO. • Keep yourself and your friends safe.
