2004 nstx campaign planning guidance

21 run week research campaign, starting mid/late January

TF commissioning will be done in January:

- Day 1 experiments can be at Bt = 4.5 kG

- Bt = 5.5 - 6.0 kG towards end of campaign

~ 14 run days provisionally allocated to HHFW/EBW ET

Major focus on combining HHFW and NBI during campaign

Approved FY03 XPs need to be modified:

- Take advantage of further thought, facility improvements

- New XP numbers assigned

- Not subject to formal group review if modifications limited

Preliminary xp scheduling

“Early run” --> late January, February & March

“Mid run” --> April, May & June

“Late run” --> July & August

HHFW Conditioning XMP [Wilson], including 3-wave decay, RF pickup and check out new feedback control (3 days over three weeks during early run)

HHFW Thermal Ion Heating XP [Wilson] – needs NBI blips, 2 days early run

Power Deposition with HHFW Modulation XP [Swain] – Piggyback & 2 days early run

HHFW CD [Ryan] – 2 days early/mid run & 1 day late run, if 10-channel MSE available
