olfactory nerve - cranial nerve I- is the shortest of the cranial nerves and is very important in the sense of smell. Located in the top of the nasal cavity. Contains only sensory nerve tissue- no motor nerves!

Polyps develop from chronic inflammation of the nasal mucosa.

What causes rhinitis?

Rhinitis is commonly caused by a viral or bacterial infection, including the common cold, which is caused by Rhinoviruses and Coronaviruses, or bacterial sinusitis

What are the symptoms? Common symptoms of rhinitis are a stuffy nose, runny nose, and post-nasal drip.

How is rhinitis treated?

Rhinitis can't be cured but it can be controlled by:

Avoiding rhinitis triggers.

Using home remedies such as nasal irrigation.

Taking over-the-counter and prescription medications.
