Fasting Tips for Diabetics Fasting in India is kept for various reasons on different occasions while some people believe in the ritual of fasting some don’t and for the people who do; Navratriis no exception in fact it’s an auspicious occasion to commence fasting. Navratri this year is being observed from 29th Sept to 7th Oct, a nine day festival where 9 different forms of goddess Durga are worshiped for symbolic significance of each. Navratri is an extremely prominent occasion in India and so does the rituals it holds. So, let’s dive in and get to the core of Navratri fasting and its tips! Why Fast On Navratri? The 9 day long festival of Navratri comprises of fasting, puja’s and events as it is believed that goddess Durga visits our home in her nine forms. People fast for nine days or at times on the first and last day of Navratri to celebrate Durga’s homecoming as she is a symbol of power, prosperity, wealth and health. There’s also a scientific relevance to Navratri, as it is held twice a year in autumn and summers during this time it’s suggested to eat light meals due to weak immunity and seasonal changes.

Its properties of high-fiber and protein makes it a preferable item to be consumed by Diabetics it also happens to be a major source in keeping blood sugar levels in control ,being a low-glycaemic food.
