  2. FOCUS About Alaska

  3. State Song • Eight stars of gold on a field of blue—Alaska's flag. May it mean to you the blue of the sea, the evening sky, The mountain lakes, and the flowers nearby; The gold of the early sourdough's dreams, The precious gold of the hills and streams; The brilliant stars in the northern sky, The "Bear"— the "Dipper"— and, shining high, The great North Star with its steady light, Over land and sea a beacon bright. Alaska's flag— to Alaskans dear, The simple flag of a last frontier.

  4. Population Alaska's total population is very small only 698473!

  5. Language • Alaska’s official language is English.

  6. Time Zone • The interesting fact is…. I found out Alaska does not have a local time zone.?!

  7. Interesting Facts • In some parts of Alaska I found you can actually see the Northern Lights from a distance.

  8. State Bird • Alaska Willow Ptarmigan

  9. State Dog • The largest and oldest of the Arctic sled dogs, the Alaskan Malamute possesses great strength. He is not designed to race, but it carries large loads over long distances. Today, many Malamutes are family pets, but are highly athletic and still capable of enjoying sledding, weight-pulling, back-packing, jogging and swimming with their owners.
