  1. Back Cover Wichita People Region The Wichita people were located in the central plains . This is now known as the North Central Plains. They lived along the Red River. Food The Wichita people moved around so there food depended on there location. From the spring until fall they lived a village life and grew maize, pumpkins, squash, beans and even planted plum trees. For the rest of the year the would move west and hunted buffalo. Colleen Russell 9-28-10 SS 2nd Why? I chose this tribe, because I love how they raise there families. The girls were trained and raised by there mom and the boys were raised by there fathers. . Homes They lived in strong houses made of grass. The structure was made of cedar poles. These house could range from 15 to 30 feet across. Interesting Fact The men in the tribe would decorate there bodies. The would tattoo dark circle around there eyes. The tattoos looked like raccoon eyes. Clothing There clothes were made up of deer skin. The men wore little clothing in the summer, but the women always wore dresses. For special occasions the women decorated there dresses with elk teeth. They always wore moccasins.
