  2. So What! ???

  3. SOLO Taxonomy for cluster action planning and review

  4. SOLO Taxonomy for cluster action planning and review Activity - discuss what would go in the ? Boxes. Share back in approx 5 mins. View spreadsheet for homework activity with the cluster.

  5. SOLO Taxonomy for planning to extend student performance Activity - discuss what would go in the empty cells. Share back in approx 10 mins.

  6. SOLO Taxonomy for students to extend their performance Year X Inquiry “Making a difference in our neighbourhood” Visit the stream at the back of the school to find out why it needs your help. 8. Move Over!

  9. Sample Inquiry Presentation The Situation How could you challenge and enrich their thinking? It is the year 2222 and in 5 more years humans will no longer be able to live on Earth.

  10. Your Task You have been asked by NASA to help them with their research to find another planet for humans to live on. Choose a planet and find out whether humans would be able to live there.

  11. You will need to include the following information; - Which planet have you chosen? - Where it is in the solar system? - What is it like on the surface? (eg rocky, sandy, watery) - What is the temperature? - What is the air like? (eg is there oxygen there for humans to breathe?) - What modifications could be made to allow humans to live there? (eg space suits, atmospheric domes, growing food)

  12. Where is Neptune? • 8th planet in the Solar System • Neptune is 30 times farther from the sun than Earth • It takes 165 years to orbit the Sun

  13. What is Neptune like? • It could fit 60 Earths in it • It is 101,076 km around the planet • Neptune is round • Neptune is blue

  14. What is it like on Neptune? • It is slippery and hard and wet • It is made from ice and liquid methane • It is -210 C on Neptune

  15. What is the atmosphere like? • The stormiest planet is Neptune. • Neptune's air is windy.

  16. Interesting facts • It has the most powerful hurricanes . • Neptune has the strongest winds. • Neptune has poisonous clouds. • Neptune has a surface of icy cold liquid. • Neptune has eight moons.

  17. Would Humans Be Able To Live On Neptune? • No - it is too stormy, it has an ice surface and would be too cold and the gas is not good for humans to breathe

  47. Short Story from Y Chart – Abandon Ship!!! It’s been four days now, the blaring sun beating down on us, the powerful rough seas slamming against the side. Unable to do anything but sit there in the small forsaken wreck I now call home. The sea salt in the air has cracked my lips so severely, I can’t talk. I am that weak. © Eric Frangenheim

  48. The sound is of heavy breathing. If we are on the life boats for more than two more days, I think the 24 of us are gone. I lifted my head desperately to look around but saw nothing, just a vast desert of ocean in all directions. Every night all I see in my dreams is the Captain’s severed arm sliding down the cold wooden deck. Is there any hope? So thirsty, so hungry, but too weak? Please someone help! JeremyYear 7.
