  1. Continuation of ADRICOSM forecasting activities Paolo Oddo (INGV) National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia

  2. OUTLINE • The ADRICOSM operational system • Recent improvements • New results and validation • Conclusion

  3. ADRICOSM operational system • POM Based Code • 5km horiz. Resolution • 21 vertical sigma layers • Smol. Advection scheme

  4. RECENT IMPROVEMENTS

  5. New Results and Validation Summer Winter Climatological (from new sys.) seasonal surface circulation fields.

  6. New Results and Validation Mean and Instantaneous circulation patterns

  7. New Results and Validation T/S diagrams from Obs(dark) and Model (Red). Divided by Year :(2001-2002-2003) and sub-regions: Northern, Middle and Southern Adriatic

  8. New Results and Validation Comparison between surface CHL (Satellite) and model predicted salinity patterns CHL SALT

  9. Conclusions • The ADRICOSM Regional model is operational in both configurations (5km and 2km NO WEB). • Recent model changes have improved numerical results • Comparison with available observation has shown that some old model deficiencies has been fixed.
