  2. Monday, September 9 • Objective: I will continue working on my final draft and brainstorm ideas for my presentation. • Standards: Writing Applications 2.1, Speaking 1.11 • Journal Question: Does public speaking terrify you or does it not bother you at all? Explain.

  3. Mini-lesson: Verb Tense Consistency • Many students have had problems establishing ONE verb tense for their personal narrative. • In general, a personal narrative takes place in the PAST, so it should be written in PAST TENSE. • What are some examples of past tense verbs?

  4. Mini-lesson: Verb Tense Consistency • Let’s try the worksheet together.

  5. Presentation Guidelines • 2-5 min: You will be timed! • Visual component: tri-fold board, storyboard, pictures, poster, video, power point, etc. • Must incorporate content from your personal narrative essay • Check your rubric for further instructions.

  6. Presentation Tips Video • Write down as many tips from the video as you can on a piece of paper.

  7. Presentation Tips • How else can we overcome fear of speaking in front of the class? Brainstorm with a partner.

  8. Presentation Importance • Why is it important to have class presentations at all? Brainstorm with a partner.

  9. Presentation Order • Write down the date when you are going to present and the numbered order you will present. • On this same sheet, write down your speech notes and show Ms. U by Fri. Sept 13 (Block 5) or Mon. Sept 16 (Block 2, 4, 8) to get checked off.
