  1. Oh, the Sweet Capital of the UK. London. England. London has many historical and fascinating sites. Including. . . The Tower of London! The Tower was constructed by a man who wasn't even English, a man named William. The first king, King Edward promised William the crown when he died. But, on his deathbed, he gave the crown to his brother, King Harold. William was very angry. King Harold named the Tower of London. The Tower was finally finished twenty years later, when it held it's first important prisoner- Flambard! He was supposed to suffer, but he bribed his captors with gold that he stole. One night, Flambard held a great feast. He got his captors so drunk that they didn't care when he slipped out the window with rope, and escaped to freedom. Henry III decided he would turn part of the Tower into a zoo! The idea was to greet his guests with roaring beasts. Later, some overtaxed farmers attacked the Tower. They failed miserably. They were all thrown in prison. Later, the king executed the leader. Still, the most interesting monarch is clearly King Henry VIII. He had six wives! He hanged his first wife, Clara, for having a baby girl instead of a boy. He married another lady- Anne Boleyn. King Henry VII had been the last monarch who actually lived in the Tower. But King Henry VIII celebrated in the Tower. His wedding to Anne Boleyn was in the Tower. A humoengoes feast hi, I'm Queen Elizabeth I in the Tower. But the Tower was not always the celebrating place for Anne. She later got executed for having a girl baby- just like Clara. But King Henry VIII was wrong abut the execution. It turned out that Elizabeth, Anne's daughter, became Queen Elizabeth I. Queen Elizabeth was thought to have committed a crime, was sent to prison, and let out on the anniversary of her mm's marriage and death. That is the history of the Tower of London.
