  2. Comparatives • You have learned más and menos in certain expressions.

  3. Comparatives • Me gusta el tenis pero me gusta más el fútbol. • Te gustan las manzanas? Sí, más o menos.

  4. Comparatives • We also use más / menos + adjective + que (‘than’) to make comparisons.

  5. Comparatives • mas / menos + adjective + qué • Los discos compactos de Los Toros son más populares que los discos compactos de Los Lobos.

  6. Comparatives • más / menos + adjective + qué • Jorge es menos serio que María.

  7. Comparatives • The adjectives agree with the nouns they refer to. (ie…the adjective in front)

  8. Comparatives • The adjectives bueno, malo, viejo, and joven have irregular comparative forms. We do not use más with them.

  9. Comparatives • bueno, a • malo, a • viejo, a • joven mejor (que) peor (que) mayor (que) menor (que)

  10. Comparatives • Mejor, peor, mayor, and menor have plural forms ending in -es. However, they don’t have a different feminine form:

  12. Comparatives • Mejor (better) is also the comparative form of bueno (well), and peor (worse) also the comparative form of malo (badly).

  13. Comparatives • When used in this sense, mejor and peor have only two forms…singular and plural.

  14. Comparatives • Graciela y Fabián son mejores que Susana y Gustavo en tenis.

  15. PRACTICE Write four sentences usingcomparisons of inequality. Two using más and two using menos.
