Intelligent Transportation Solutions for America

Safety, Mobility and Environmental Solutions for 21st Century Challenges

U.S. Transportation System Facing Historic Challenges

  • Close to 40,000 fatalities, 2.5 million injuries

annually, costing more than $230 billion

  • The average rush-hour commuter spends nearly a full work week stuck in traffic; congestion cost estimated at $200 billion each year

  • 28% of CO2 emissions attributed to transportation sector

  • Highway Trust Fund is going broke

We can’t simply build our way out!

The projection for 2035…

It looks like the U.S. is having a heart attack…and this

is just the trucks!

Would you rather be here…

  • 4.2 billion hours of delay

  • 2.8 billion gallons of wasted fuel

  • Price Tag: more than $87 Billion

  • (and that’s just wasted time and fuel)

…or here?

New Federal Safety Focus: Distracted Driving

Driver distraction is our oldest new problem!

Consumer devices can distract drivers, but smart technologies can improve driver safety

  • Lane departure warnings

  • Proximity / blind spot warnings

  • Pre-emptive braking

  • Automatic crash notification

  • Electronic stability control

  • Fatigue detection

  • IntelliDrive (next generation of vehicle safety systems)

Technology is a double edged

sword.

Authorization and Climate Change Debates:Critical Opportunity to Advance ITS Solutions

ITS technologies are proven and ready for prime time, but federal leadership is needed to jumpstart broader deployment

  • New momentum behind a performance-based transportation system

  • Safety, mobility, environmental and funding challenges demand smarter solutions

  • We can’t simply build more roads; we must manage our transportation system better

ITS technologies can get you from

  • to

here...

home...

…faster, safer, and cleaner.
