  1. AVIATION FLIGHT DISPATCHER

  2. The Aviation Flight Dispatcher Ground School is based and follows the Transport Canada standard and requirements which is called “Generic Training ”. This common body ofknowledge is required byall flight dispatchers. It consist of two segments :   Aviation Meteorology and   Flight operations 

The Flight Dispatcher Ground School isdivided in 3 segments :  Aviation meteorology  Flight operation, or general aviation knowledge Prep exam and course final examination The Flight Dispatcher knowledge is broad and cover many topicsranging from PPL to ATPL level. All examinations, test, quizzes, homework and course Final exam requires 70% to pass.

  4. To start a career as a Flight Dispatcherthe candidate must first have passed both Transport Canada generic examinations : (1) Flight Operations (2) Aviation Meteorology. Both exams are multiple choices. Pass mark is 70% You will need to call ahead of time to book your examination at Transport Canada offices at the Calgary international airport Examination is computer based with paper handout appendix.

  5. Flight Dispatcher : TheTransport Canada written examination is required. It is an active Operational role. Responsibilities : not limited to the following Exercise safe and efficient operational control of flight(s) together withthe Pilot-in-command Analyze operational information including forecast and actual weather conditions, NOTAM, runway and aerodrome suitability, navigation aids, communications, en-route facilities etc. which may affect the flight.- Flight planning, including route analysis and calculation of fuel requirements.- Create, authorize and issue operational flight plans - Maintain Flight watch over flights

  6. Flight Coordinator : No Transport Canada written examination required. A busy supporting role Responsibilities: not limited to the following - Flight Following-Arrange pilot accommodation & transportation -Filing Passenger Manifest-Customs arrangements -Crew Scheduling -Pilot notification of flights -Flight Bookings as required

  8. FLIGHT WATCH Flight watch is an important aspect of flight dispatcher duties. The Flight Dispatcher use computersystem to monitor flight progress and to advise the flight crew of circumstances that might affect flight safety. The main difference between a flight dispatcher and a flight follower / Flight Coordinator, is that the latter does not share legal responsibility for the operation of a flight. Pilot do self-dispatch. Flight Coordinator are not required to pass the flight dispatcher examination, however they are usually encouraged to do so.
