  2. Some history • CAMDH • Established 1996 • Roles • Enhance recruitment and retention • Increase teaching and learning in Aboriginal health • Resource and support for community, faculty and university

  3. From small beginnings … • Prior to 1996 - only 2 Aboriginal graduates (1983 and 1985)

  4. Achieving success • Since 1996: • Total Commenced: 42 • Total Transferred out: 2 (to other med schools) • Total studying: 24 • Total on Leave: 2 • Total on alt study: 2 • Total Graduated: 11 (+ 2 pre CAMDH) • Total left: 1

  5. Multiple paths • Establishing Medicine (health) as a viable and achievable career • Long term engagement (may be >10 years before enrolment in medicine) • Overcoming secondary school experience • Alternative learning opportunities • Alternative entry
