I & II) • General radio telecommunication and Distress, Urgency & DF procedure • Maritime Mobile Service Distress procedure • Aircraft equipment licensing requirements • Minimum radio requirements (ICA Annex 6 and CAR) • Navigational & Communication Facilities & FIRs in India • Met Codes, pre-flight briefing services and their usage • Knowledge of NOTAMs

Syllabus – Radio Principles • Electrical units such as Volt, Ampere, Ohm and Watt • Wavelength, frequency and their relationship • Knowledge of radio frequency propagation, day & night frequencies, skip distance, fading, ground shadow and choice of HF frequencies • Knowledge of air-ground comm systems, SELCAL, Intercom, radio nav aids, squelch, AVC, volume control, transmitter tuning, simplex & duplex operation, HF communication advantages and disadvantages, frequency-range relationships etc.
