Introduction • UID implementation within the DoD maintenance enterprise is an enormously complex, expensive and challenging undertaking • Cross Service • Acquisition and Sustainment • All maintenance levels • Coordinated implementation offers the best chance for success • Shared business rules & processes • Shared file formats, data syntax, transaction protocols • Avoid duplication of effort • Capital investment economy of scale • Cross-functional implementation planning ensures all stakeholders’ requirements will be addressed • UID IPT for DoD Maintenance

Support the Materiel Readiness Senior Steering Group and the OSD UID Program Office with technical and programmatic advice relative to: Parts marking by DoD’s organic and commercial maintenance depots Parts marking by non-depot maintenance activities (commercial and organic) UID data compilation, storage, retrieval and utilization at all maintenance levels (commercial and organic) Mission

Objectives of the UID IPT for DoD Maintenance include: Develop and recommend policy guidance on the implementation and employment of parts marking and UID data management capabilities throughout the DoD maintenance enterprise. Develop a roadmap and monitor the progress of UID implementation within DoD maintenance. Identify barriers to progress and recommend process changes or other actions to overcome the barriers. Provide guidance for improving UID training for DoD maintainers. Promote standardized UID business rules and processes in the areas where standardization is required to ensure Joint/interservice functionality and maximum efficiency. Objectives

Objectives (cont) • Provide overviews/summaries of UID program funding levels proposed and executed by the Military Departments and Agencies, and develop strategies to effectively track non-recurring and recurring UID costs. • Coordinate with serial number tracking (SNT)/serialized item management (SIM) program managers to ensure that the capabilities enabled by UID are fully considered throughout the life cycle of systems and equipment. • Develop strategies to effectively track the impact of UID on materiel readiness and system safety.
