  • 1955- Syria becomes USSR ally

  • 1955- Warsaw Pact formed (Soviet Version of NATO) including many Eastern European nations.

1-Steel surfaces evaporate, concrete surfaces explode, glass windows melt. Concrete reinforced multi-story office buildings collapse.

2-Aluminum siding evaporates, auto sheet metal and Lucite windows melt. Multi-story buildings with some reinforcement collapse.

3-Wood, plastics, heavy fabrics burst into flames and asphalt surfaces melt. Unreinforced brick and wood-frame buildings, like houses, collapse.

4-Upholstery, canvas, clothing burst into flames and painted surfaces explode. Unreinforced brick and wood-frame buildings, like houses, are severely damaged.

5-Severe 3rd degree burns to people; grass and shrubs ignite and fires spread. Unreinforced brick and wood-frame buildings, like houses, are badly damaged.
