  6. “Accounting for Success” Outreach Stats, Year 1 • Total student outreach: 12,358 • Career Day: 1,363 • Career Fair: 8,000 • Classroom Visit: 2,595 • Club/Organization: 327 • Job Shadow: 88 • Total presentations made: 144 • Total high schools visited: 73

  7. “Accounting for Success” Outreach Stats, Year 1 • Number of volunteers: 629 • High School Coordinators: 405 • CPA Speakers: 224 • Total schools with an assigned High School Coordinator: 503 (out of 585; 86 percent)

Minority Summer Residency Program • Six-day, five night college residency program, begun in 1998 • Funds raised by FICPA Accounting Careers and Education Committee • Open to rising minority high school seniors interested in business, finance, and accounting • Specially-designed curriculum teaches students about business, communication, college, and the CPA profession • Field trips designed to show typical work environments and how accounting systems are applied

  10. MSRP Program Goals • Increase awareness of the accounting, finance, and business professions • Explore careers in accounting, finance, and business through structured activities • Familiarize students with the college ‘living’ experience

  11. “New” Student Membership Section 2h. Student Members. Any individual who is a full or part time student who is interested in accounting and is enrolled in a college or university in Florida. Individual becomes ineligible for student membership if qualified for any other category of membership at any time. FICPA Articles of Incorporation, Article III, Members

  13. Campus Champions • Exciting new initiative, recruitment starting Fall 2004 • One “champion” per college or university • Individual to serve as a liaison between the FICPA and academia • Application deadline: Nov. 12th

Campus Champions Criteria • Licensed CPA (preferably Florida) • Accounting educator at an accredited college/ university • Willing to promote FICPA student membership (recruit about 10% student members) • Not serving in same capacity for another association • Renewable annually based on performance

  15. Why Be a Campus Champion? • Receive a complimentary FICPA Educator membership ($110 value) after year of successful performance • Training, support and materials necessary for this role from the FICPA • Regular communication from the FICPA of special events, tips, etc. • Special recognition in Florida CPAToday magazine and FICPA web site
