  3. Age:6 I believed verbal and physical abuse was love. • I watched my father beat my mother everyday . • She’s at the hospital again. • He’s gone? Why? He loves her!

  4. She found love… • Her new boyfriend beats her, he loves her. • If It’s love why does she scream and cry? • She’s gone to the hospital again. • He’s gone, why? He loves her!

  5. Trauma felt at 9 years old. • Verbal and physical abuse from mother • Molestation • Left to care for siblings • Started drinking alcohol

  6. TERRIFIED ELEVEN • Removed from mother • Placed in foster care • Dysfunctional family

  7. HOPELESS FOURTEEN • She loves me, she wants me back. • How do I live without her. • Attempted suicide

  8. 19 years old and beyond • Drug addiction • Introduction to Criminal Justice System • Mental Institutions

  9. MARRIED CHILD • He beats me, does he love me? • She moved in with my little sisters. • Abuse from him and her.

  10. RETRAUMATIZED • Arresting Officers • Correctional Officers • Drug Addiction Counselors • Seclusion and Restraints • Over-medicated • Hospitals • State Agencies

  11. After Trauma Treatment • Drug and alcohol free • Secure attachment with daughter • Medication free • Advocate • Board Member • Council member • Homeowner and more

  12. What if…………… • At age 9 someone recognized my trauma • I embraced trauma treatment then • School employees, hospitals, state agencies, rehabs., arresting officers were all trained in trauma

  13. Isn’t it possible that the results could’ve been this………. • This child, to this woman, to this mother without the destruction • A THOUGHT, HUH?
