  3. Resources Available to Assistwith Tuition Resource #1 - Indiana School Choice Scholarships - Grades 2-12 Resource #2 - SGO (Scholarship Granting Organization) Scholarships • Primarily Kindergarten - 1st Grade Resource #3 - Christian Academy Tuition Assistance • Grades K-12

  4. Resource #1 – Indiana School Choice Scholarships What is the Indiana School Choice Scholarship program? Public funds may be utilized to pay for children who meet certain income criteria currently attending public schools to transfer to private schools, or who are current SGO Scholarship recipients.

  5. Resource #1 – Indiana School Choice Scholarships (continued) Who administers the Indiana School Choice Scholarship program? The program is administered by the Indiana State Department of Education (IDOE). The IDOE has stated it: • Has the responsibility to fund the education of students • Has an obligation to students, not schools • Provides funds to the school on behalf of the student • Believes parents should be free to choose the best school setting for their child(ren)

Resource #1 – Indiana School Choice Scholarships (continued) Christian Academy of Indiana participates in the Indiana School Choice Scholarship program, which means we: • Are accredited by an approved agency • Maintain established admissions standards for all students • Charge usual tuition rates for all students • Keep records; file reports with IDOE

Resource #1 – Indiana School Choice Scholarships (continued) To qualify, students: • Must be residents of Indiana • Must have attended public school in Indiana during both of the prior two semesters or have received a SGO Scholarship in Kindergarten or First Grade. • Must have total family income that meets eligibility guidelines for Federal Free and Reduced Price Lunches* * Participation in the Federal Free and Reduced Price Lunch Program is not required to qualify for an Indiana School Choice Scholarship

  8. Resource #2 - SGO Scholarships What is an SGO? An SGO (Scholarship Granting Organization) is a state-registered nonprofit organization that provides scholarships for Indiana students to attend accredited schools that charge tuition. SGOs raise money for scholarships via a special tax credit. Christian Academy partners with Sagamore Institute to provide Indiana students with scholarships. To qualify, students: • Must be enrolling in Kindergarten or 1st Grade; or • Must have received a tax credit scholarship the previous year; and • Must demonstrate financial need NOTE: Students who receive SGO Scholarships in kindergarten or first grade may be eligible to receive Indiana School Choice Scholarships in subsequent years, pending qualification of family’s income

  9. Resource #3 – Christian AcademyTuition Assistance Through private donations and other resources, Christian Academy provides tuition assistance to families with demonstrated financial need. To qualify, students must: • Meet eligibility requirements as determined by a third party administrator, FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment (FGAA) • FGAA determines eligibility by reviewing income tax forms, comparing family’s total household income and assets to school tuition Generally, for families to qualify for Christian Academy tuition assistance through FACTS, tuition must be greater than 10% of the adjusted gross income.

Additional Christian Academy Expenses Required expenses: • Application fee = $100 • Tuition assistance application fee = $25 • FACTS processing fee = $38 (applicable for families choosing to pay their tuition monthly) • Uniforms Possible additional expenses: • Some extracurricular activities • Athletics participation • Missions projects
