A network consists of two or more computers that are linked in order to share resources, exchange files or allow electronic communications will be termed as Networking for computers. The three basic types of IT networks include: Local Area Network (LAN) Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) Wide Area Network (WAN)

    4. Contd. LAN: A Local Area Network connects network devices over a relatively short distance. A network in office building, school, or home usually contains a single LAN, though sometimes one building will contain a few small LANs.

    5. Contd. MAN: The interconnection of networks in a city into a single larger network will be termed as MAN. It is also used to mean the interconnection of several local area networks. A MAN connects an area larger than a LAN.
