  7. Step 2- 1980 Asian Stereotypes • Males-quiet, hard working, nerdish, good at math and being technicians but sly and sneaky when they compete and win. • Females-quiet, hard working, good mothers, good secretaries and technicians.

  9. Two Tools I used to build my reputation • Boeing Project Management approach supported by Gantt charts. • Mind Maps-explore topics/relationships and help identify what some abstract and idealistic qualities look like in concrete terms.

  10. Gantt Charts • Start with the end in mind and identify all the major tasks necessary to reach the objective and identify who is responsible and when it will be done. Then monitor your progress regularly. See hand-out

  12. Organizations--the sandbox you are playing in • Most people believe organizations are rational and logical. Bolman and Deal state otherwise as they outline four different types. Structural Frame,Political, Symbolic, and Human Resource

  16. Session Outcome/Product Generated • Small groups • Make a list of all the KEY TASKS necessary to get promoted. • Make a Mind Map regarding symbolic, non rational, religious, intuitive etc. forces that support promotion. • Groups report back

  17. Outcome 2-Homework • Using the list and mind map information construct a personal plan for you to get promoted. Need timelines and tasks which you will monitor until your goal is reached.
