  1. How Pedestrian Crossing Systems Reduce Misconceptions between Motorists And Pedestrians There is no doubt that most pedestrian crashes occur while they are attempting to cross the road, even when being careful. There are signs like zebra crossings to notify the pedestrian and drivers. But most drivers don’t look at these and keep driving, resulting in accidents. But there are solutions to overcome this barrier is, i.e. the usage of pedestrian crossing systems, warning drivers when pedestrians are crossing the road. What is a Pedestrian Crossing System? Pedestrian Crossing Systems are devices, computers and programs used to improve roadway safety for pedestrians and drivers. To alert driver or motorists, signals are activated by the pole- mounted push button, camera, or motion sensor. This system has either STOP (red) lights or CAUTION (amber) blinking lights. It can also be equipped with one or two flashing beacons per pole or the new RRFB or Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon light bar. Pedestrian Detection Systems are wireless, which can further turn on a multitude of signals with one push button. Every transmitter and receiver has a different address code, which gets activated only by receivers with the matching code. This system has the potential to be activated miles away with the line-of-sight transmission. As of having this feature, in some cases, the flashing beacons are positioned further up the road away from the real crossing. Once it starts, the signals remain ON for a pre-set period, which may be between 1 second to 100 hours.

  2. Moreover, as the flashing light activation is wireless between poles, no boring or trenching to run wires or conduit is required. Features of Pedestrian Crossing Systems: A standard system will have a flashing beacon, poles, or the RRFB light bar. Besides, it has the following features:  AC or DC solar powered  Solid-State Flasher  Alerts like CAUTION (amber) or STOP (red)  System flexibility  No maintenance battery  Optional battery back-up Applications of Pedestrian Crossing Detection systems: You can apply this system in different areas on the roads:  Jogging / Running Paths  Cyclists Crossings areas  Golfers including Carts  Hiking Trails  Horse Trails  Middle-of-the-block Crossings If you are concerned with pedestrian safety, contact Icoms Detections at https://icomsdetections.com/, a renowned provider of Pedestrian Crossing Detection systems.
